Hu Shunxiang is a classically trained painter whose artistic practice also includes pictorial installations and theatrical productions. In her works, Hu Shunxiang is not only a painter but a conductor. With an innate affinity for mysticism, Hu Shunxiang carves compositions similar to theatrical stages, incorporating hidden narratives, textual elements and dramatic turns of events. Xu Shunxiang explores through her creative language the very essence of human existence, life and death, loss and love, hope and fear. In front of Hu Shunxiang’s paintings, the audience sees a story unfold in scenes. Hu Shunxiang’s philosophical spirit inhabits her work, and through a diversity of media she carefully presents her stories.
Her work has been exhibited at the Guangdong Museum of Art in Guangzhou, the Shanxi Provincial Museum in Xi’an, and she has participated in the 55th Venice Biennale Parallel Exhibition.
