Chen Han, born in 1973, Shenyang, China. He lives and works in Shenyang and Beijing.

Chen Han's works should undoubtedly be studied with an almost cinematic eye. Two figures look at each other, their faces blurred, caught up in the movement. A dark hotel room, a familiar light and the stage is set.

Chen Han has that liveliness of gaze known only to painters. The ever-floating atmosphere that permeates Chen Han's canvases gives ample space to our own presence. We too are part of the unfolding scene, distant enough to appreciate it yet close enough to taste it. The highly tactile dimension of Chen Han's creations also lies in his interest in Northern European painting, particularly Russian realism and 19th-century portraiture. Each thick stroke of paint lends even more romantic substance and authority to the figures and details Chen Han chooses to depict, almost making them emerge from the canvas.

Chen Han has taken part in national and international group exhibitions, including at the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts Museum in Shenyang, Hongding Gallery and Shanghai's M50 Creative Garden.
