Gioele Amaro, born in 1986, Italy. He lives and works in Paris and Milan.
Originally trained as an architect, Gioele Amaro has retained from his formal education a fascination for materials and surfaces. Gioele Amaro's work can be read as both a contemporary commentary on painting and an exploration of new ways of producing and thinking about it. His color and digital compositional process 'imitates' traditional painting, while pushing its role to the point of perfect mimesis of light. His art emanates from the virtual world, entering reality as a physical object that challenges the very notion of what a painting is supposed to be.
Initially profoundly atmospheric and luminous, Gioele Amaro's works have evolved towards more complex structures, playing with the volume of spaces, the frame and sometimes even becoming self-conscious meta-compositions. Attention to detail is combined with Gioele's humorous distance from his work and his status as an artist in contemporary art.
After working with the Pritzker Prize-winning Jean Nouvel, Gioele Amaro finally decided to pursue a career as an independent artist. He took part in group exhibitions at Almine Rech in Brussels and at the High Art Gallery in Paris. A solo presentation of his paintings was held at Galerie Balice Hertling. In 2023, He has collaborated with Valentino with a solo show presenting at its Paris flagship store and exposed on the grand billboard at Avenue de L’Opéra.
